About me
Matthew Colley BA(Hons) LLCM PGCE PGDip
Matthew holds a BA(Hons) in Music and is a Licentiate of the London College of Music. His training spans several institutions, including the University of Wolverhampton, Manchester Metropolitan University, and the Royal Northern College of Music. As a performer, he has appeared in both amateur and professional productions throughout the UK and internationally.
Currently working as a freelance musician and Arts Educator, Matthew brings over ten years of teaching experience to his private music studio. He offers piano, singing, and music theory lessons for all levels—from beginners to advanced students—alongside a range of other music services. His former students have gone on to study and train at leading institutions such as BOA, Performers College, MAMT, and Laine Theatre Arts, and many now work in the performing arts industry.
Matthew uses Estill Voice Training in his teaching as well as drawing on a wide range of evidence-based vocal and pedagogical methods tailored to each student’s needs. His teaching combines technical precision with a supportive, student-centred approach, helping learners build strong foundations in musical technique, creativity, and expressive confidence. Lessons are both engaging and structured, designed to nurture independence and a lifelong love of music in a safe and encouraging environment.
